Michaela Walsh: "I want to be the new golden girl"

Northern Ireland boxer Michaela Walsh warns Olympic champion Nicola Adams that she is only interested in gold ahead of their Commonwealth Games flyweight final.

Northern Ireland boxer Michaela Walsh has warned Nicola Adams that she only came to the Commonwealth Games for gold ahead of their flyweight final.

Walsh beat India's Pinki Rani while London 2012 champion Adams dispatched of Canada's Mandy Bujold to set up an all-British showdown at 2pm on Saturday.

Adams, who became Britain's first female Olympic boxing gold medallist two years ago, will go in as the favourite but Walsh has vowed to knock the Englishwoman off her perch.

"She's the golden girl but I'm coming up and I want to be the new golden girl," Walsh told reporters. "I'm in for one colour and one colour only."

Adams has admitted that she is "excited" for tomorrow's "rumble in the jungle".
