Ireland boxer Joseph Ward has been beaten at the last-16 stage of the light-heavyweight tournament.
The fourth seed had been fancied to reach the latter stages in Rio but he struggled to cope with the intensity of Ecuador's Carlos Andres Mina.
Ward arguably produced the better work throughout the three rounds but he was twice warned by the referee for holding and he visibly faded during the closing stages.
Had Ward not been penalised, he would have progressed but the two docked points gave Mina a 28-27 verdict with two judges while the other gave it to Ward by the same scoreline.
