Stanimira Petrova unhappy with loss to Anna Alimardanova

Bulgarian boxer criticises judges after loss

Bulgarian boxer Stanimira Petrova has criticised the European Games judges after she lost to Anna Alimardanova of Azerbaijan.

It is not the first time the Baku judges have come under flak, with disapproval coming from Team GB's Anthony Fowler and Sam Maxwell, and Peter Mullenberg of the Netherlands.

"I'm not happy about this result," Petrova told reporters. "I thought the first round was equal, the second one was for me but with a little gap, and third and fourth were definitely for me. I will have a better idea, though, after I've seen the video.

"This is not war, it's just sport. I'm not happy with this result and disappointed to lose, but I know I have good potential which I will show another day."

The world bantamweight champion lost her quarter final bout by a unanimous decision.
