United States stars expect basketball gold

NBA star Deron Williams says that his star-studded United States basketball team expect nothing less than a gold medal.

Williams is one of five USA players that won gold in Beijing in 2008, and the heavy favourites to win gold expect nothing less than first place in London.

"We expect to win gold. Nobody comes to the Olympics to lose," said 28-year-old Brooklyn Nets guard Williams.

"A lot of us are older and better. Look at Lebron James, he's better than he was in 2008.

"We've added a lot of great, young players too who are in their prime. I think we're better than the Beijing team. We're a lot more athletic and quicker than we were."

USA have won all five of their warm-up matches for the tournament and kick off London 2012 on Sunday against France.
