Toronto Raptors release Quentin Richardson

The Toronto Raptors release veteran Quentin Richardson before the small forward can make an appearance for the Canadian franchise.

The Toronto Raptors have used their option to waive veteran small forward Quentin Richardson.

A trade deal with the New York Knicks involving Andrea Bargnani brought Richardson to Canada in July.

However, the 33-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements without making a single appearance for the Raptors.

Chicago-born Richardson has 783 NBA games since joining the Los Angeles Clippers as a first-round pick in 2000.
