Nick Young criticises "disrespectful" Doc Rivers

Young slams Rivers for hiding banners

Nick Young has called the move from the Los Angeles Clippers to cover up Los Angeles Lakers championship banners "disrespectful".

The Clippers, who share the Staples Center with their city rivals, have confirmed that they will be hiding the banners and retired jerseys when they play their home matches.

However, Lakers guard Young has admitted that he was surprised Clippers coach Doc Rivers was allowed to make the decision.

"He can do that?" Lakers guard Young told reporters. "For real? That's disrespectful.

"We got to talk to Doc. He can't have that. We got to do something about that.

"I think he shouldn't come in and have so much pull like that. He's got to earn his keep."

Rivers is preparing for his first season as head coach of the Clippers.
