Talkshow host Oprah Winfrey has revealed that she is interested in buying the Los Angeles Clippers.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says that he will look to force the sale of the team after the franchise's current owner Donald Sterling was banned for life for making racist comments.

The 60-year-old television presenter released a statement through ESPN, saying: "Oprah Winfrey is in discussions with [music mogul] David Geffen and [Oracle chief executive] Larry Ellison to make a bid for the Los Angeles Clippers should the team become available."

Boxers Floyd Mayweather Jr and Oscar de la Hoya have expressed an interest in a joint bid for the team, while rapper Sean Combs has also been linked to the side.
