Dirk Nowitzki makes pitch to recruit Carmelo Anthony

Nowitzki makes pitch to Anthony

Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki has publicly revealed that he would "love" to have Carmelo Anthony join them this summer.

The New York Knicks forward is expected to opt out of the final season of his deal and test free agency this summer, although the Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets are also understood to be interested.

"If Carmelo would really love to come here, we'd love to have him," Nowitzki said, ESPN reports.

The Mavericks are expected to have enough cap space to offer Anthony a maximum contract this summer, although he would still make more if he chose to stay in New York. His decision hinges on whether or not the franchise can provide him with a plan which will see them compete for a championship.
