There were also victories for the Lakers, Cavaliers and Raptors.

Reigning NBA champions the Golden State Warriors broke a four-game losing streak with a 125-97 victory over the Portland Trailblazers at Oracle Arena.

Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson led the way for Steve Kerr's side with 32 and 31 points respectively as talisman Stephen Curry missed out once again.

Curry, who has sat out the Warriors' last seven matches with a groin injury, was involved in a car crash in Oakland on the morning of the game, escaping unscathed.

At four games, the Warriors' losing streak was their worst since 2013 but Golden State took the lead early in the second quarter and held on as they improved to 13-7 on the season.

LeBron James had 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Los Angeles Lakers won their third game in a row, 90-83 against the Utah Jazz.

Bernard Ingram top-scored for the Lakers with 24 in the victory.

James' previous club, the Cleveland Cavaliers, bounced back from a defeat to the Lakers earlier in the week as they beat the Philadelphia 76ers 121-112.

The Sixers were the league's only undefeated team at home this season, while the Cavs had the worst record at 2-14.

Colin Sexton had 23 points and Cedi Osman 20 in the win.

Elsewhere, the Toronto Raptors won their fourth game in a row – 125-107 against the Washington Wizards, Jamal Crawford made a jumper with less than a second remaining as the Phoenix Suns beat the Milwaukee Bucks 116-114 and the Oklahoma City Thunder saw off the Charlotte Hornets 109-104.

The Detroit Pistons needed overtime to condemn the Houston Rockets to their first defeat in five, winning 116-111, the Boston Celtics beat the Atlanta Hawks 114-96 and the Los Angeles Clippers claimed a 112-107 overtime success against the Memphis Grizzlies.

LaMarcus Aldridge had 33 points and 14 rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Indiana Pacers 111-100, the Miami Heat beat the Chicago Bulls 103-96 and the Denver Nuggets comprehensively beat the Orlando Magic 112-87.

Anthony Davis had 33 points but the New Orleans Pelicans lost 114-109 to the New York Knicks and the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Brooklyn Nets 112-102.
