Cleveland Cavaliers apologise for in-game video

The Cleveland Cavaliers have issued an apology after an in-game video seemingly joking about domestic violence was shown on their big screen on Wednesday night.

The video showed a man, who supports the Cavs, throwing a woman across the room after he saw she was wearing a Chicago Bulls T-shirt.

The woman was then seen holding an ice-pack on her head, while the message insisted not to make the same mistake that she did.

"We ran a one-minute in-arena video that was intended to be a humorous spoof on a popular commercial centred on a song and dance from the classic movie Dirty Dancing,'" the Cavaliers said, according to ESPN.

"While the video was not intended to be offensive, it was a mistake to include content that made light of domestic violence."

The video was shown during game two of the Cavs' series with the Bulls, as Cleveland tied it at 1-1 after a 106-91 victory.
