Derrick Rose to undergo surgery on torn meniscus in knee

Rose to undergo knee surgery

The Chicago Bulls have confirmed that Derrick Rose will undergo surgery after tearing the meniscus in his right knee.

Rose has returned to the court on a regular basis this season after playing just 10 times in the previous two campaigns due to two different knee injuries.

However, the 2011 MVP could be set for another extended spell on the sidelines with a repeat of the injury he suffered in November 2013.

"Derrick Rose reported today with right knee pain. Exam and subsequent MRI confirmed medial meniscus tear of the right knee," a statement from the Bulls confirmed.

The Bulls will set a timetable for his return after the surgery.
