Brooklyn Nets' Billy King: '"Franchise is bigger than one person"

King: 'Nets bigger than one person'

Brooklyn Nets general manager Billy King has insisted that the "franchise is bigger than one person" following Jason Kidd's departure.

The former coach had requested control of basketball operations at the Nets, but after it was rejected the franchise granted the Milwaukee Bucks permission to discuss terms with him.

"It's a big bump. But it's something that we've got to overcome. The franchise is bigger than one person. If you sit here and say one person leaves and everything comes falling down, then you don't have an organisation," King said, ESPN reports.

Former Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins has been named as an early favourite to replace Kidd, with the Nets looking to improve on their second-round playoff showing last season.
