Robert Griffin III determined to silence doubters

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III admits that he isn't bothered about criticism of his game as he prepares for the start of the 2014 season.

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is determined to prove his doubters wrong in the 2014 season.

The 24-year-old struggled in his return from a knee injury in the 2013 campaign and has looked short of form in pre-season, leading to suggestions that backup Kirk Cousins could be the better option at quarterback for Jay Gruden's side.

Griffin told reporters: "You can't worry about what doubters or what anybody on the outside says. Everybody in this locker room is all we got and it's all we need.

"So what anybody says outside of [the locker room] doesn't matter to us, doesn't affect us, doesn't affect us, doesn't affect our approach to the game, doesn't affect us out on the practice field or the game field.

"We're the ones who have to go play. So you just block all that stuff out and move forward."

The Redskins open their 2014 campaign against the Houston Texans on September 7.
