The San Francisco 49ers have confirmed that they have released cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
The veteran defensive back only signed for the club earlier this year following his release by the Philadelphia Eagles.
However, after playing just three games this season, the former All-Pro has been deemed surplus to requirements by head coach Jim Harbaugh.
The 49ers are 6-2 in their season going into week 10.
