Pittsburgh Steelers secure third win of the season

The Pittsburgh Steelers secure a victory over the Buffalo Bills in their NFL clash at Heinz Field.

The Pittsburgh Steelers earned their third victory of the season as they overcame the Buffalo Bills in their NFL clash at Heinz Field.

The Bills went ahead early on when Jairus Byrd intercepted a pass from Ben Roethlisberger and ran downfield to put his side in scoring position, but they were forced to settle for a field goal when the Steelers defense tightened in the end zone.

Dan Carpenter knocked the 20-yard effort through the posts but the home side were level when Shaun Suisham replied with a field goal of his own from 36 yards.

Neither team looked like adding to the score until Roethlisberger moved his side downfield and into the red zone, and he found Jerricho Cotchery on a fade route with two minutes left in the half to give his side the advantage at the break.

The Steelers surged further ahead after the break when Roehtlisberger again moved his side into a scoring position following a big completion to Antonio Brown.

They were initially held at bay by the Buffalo defense but a penalty on their field goal attempt gave them more shots at the end zone.

Roethlisberger handed the ball off to running back Le'Veon Bell, who powered over the right-hand side of the line into the end zone for the four-yard score.

In the fourth quarter the Steelers iced the game when Ryan Clark intercepted EJ Manuel and ran into the red zone before he was brought down. Although the home side could not find the end zone, Suisham added three more points with a kick from 37 yards.

Another field goal from Suisham, this time from 23 yards, all but ended the game as a contest, although the Bills did get a late consolation when Chris Graggs collected a five-yard pass from Manuel. However, it was too little too late for Doug Marrone's team.
