Reese: 'David Wilson will be our starter'

New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese has stated that David Wilson will be their starting running back this season.

The 22-year-old was selected in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Giants but he endured an inconsistent rookie campaign, as he failed to nail down a starting place in the backfield alongside Eli Manning.

"We expect [Wilson] to be our starter, and be in the backfield with Andre Brown, who had a terrific season going last year until he got hurt," Reese told ESPN.

"[Brown's] had the injury bug a little bit since he's been in the league. But if he can stay healthy, and David Wilson comes on like we expect him too, we think we can have a pretty dynamic backfield."

Wilson ran for 358 yards on 71 carries last season.
