Simpson apologises to Vikings for arrest

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson has apologised to the club and their supporters for his arrest last week.

The 27-year-old was arrested by the Minnesota State Patrol on Saturday morning on suspicion of probable cause of driving while impaired.

"I sincerely apologise for the attention that I have brought to the fans, community and myself," Simpson told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

"I've just got great support with this team, and they're going to help with whatever arises."

Simpson returned to the team on Monday and is expected to play against the Seattle Seahawks this week.
