The Houston Texans release linebacker Tim Dobbins despite a season-ending injury to Brian Cushing, according to the player's agent.

The agent of Tim Dobbins has confirmed that the linebacker has been released by the Houston Texans.

The 30-year-old had fallen down the depth chart at the Texans this campaign and despite a season-ending injury to fellow linebacker Brian Cushing, the club have decided to cut him.

His agent, David Canter, wrote on Twitter: "Tim Dobbins was released from the Texans.

"We appreciate our time and everyone at the Texans organisation. Tim is 100% healthy."

The Texans also released three other players on Monday when they cut Sam Montgomery, Cierre Wood and Willie Jefferson.
