Detroit Lions' Joique Bell: 'Close call brought the best out of me'

Detroit Lions running back Joique Bell reveals that being on his side's roster bubble last season inspired him to produce his best play.

Detroit Lions running back Joique Bell has admitted that just scraping a roster spot in the team last season inspired him to produce his best football.

The 27-year-old ran for 414 yards last season and had three rushing touchdowns - a feat he has already repeated this year in just three games.

"When I made the team, I knew it was a close call," Bell told the Detroit News. "I never wanted to make it close again, so I came out and did what I have to do."

The Lions face the Chicago Bears in an NFC North divisional clash on Sunday.
