Jerry Jones would prefer long-term Dez Bryant deal

Jones would prefer long-term Bryant deal

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has confessed that he would not be happy to place the franchise tag on wide receiver Dez Bryant.

The All-Pro will be a free agent when the league year officially ends in March unless he comes to a long-term agreement with the Cowboys or the club use the franchise tag to keep Bryant under contract for the 2015 season.

However, Jones revealed that he would prefer to reach a long-term deal with the 27-year-old to tie his future to the club.

"I can tell you I'm not that excited about the franchise tag with Dez simply because I'd like to have our agreement and our business in place for a long time to come with Dez," Jones told reporters.

Bryant has recorded 381 receptions for 5,424 yards and 56 touchdowns in his five years with the Cowboys.
