Dallas Cowboys' Jerry Jones: "I'm not a good budget guy"

Jones: "I'm not a good budget guy"

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has admitted that he is not very good at managing his side's budget.

The 70-year-old has owned the Cowboys since 1989 and achieved early success by winning three Super Bowls, but he has often been criticised for giving out excessive contracts to players such as Tony Romo.

"I'm by nature not a good budget guy," Jones told KRLD-FM. "I had the attitude when I bought the Cowboys that if you want it, get it and then get in and dig and pay for it. That's not budgeting."

Dallas open their regular season campaign against the New York Giants on Sunday.
