Hoyer confident of earning starting chance

Quarterback Brian Hoyer is confident that he will earn a starting job in the 2015 NFL season as he prepares to test the free-agent market.

The 29-year-old started 13 games for the Cleveland Browns last term and enjoyed success early in the campaign, but began to struggle towards the end of the year before being pulled from the starting lineup in favour of Johnny Manziel.

Despite some of those difficulties, Hoyer believes that he has done enough in his career to earn a shot at a starting position at the Browns or another franchise in the NFL.

When asked if he was confident on earning a starting job next season, he told the Cleveland Plain Dealer: "Yeah, no doubt."

However, Hoyer refused to confirm speculation that he would return to the Browns, adding: "All options are on the table."

Hoyer threw for 3,326 yards along with 12 touchdowns to 13 interceptions for the Browns last season.
