Cleveland Browns place Brian Hoyer on injured reserve

Browns place Hoyer on IR

The Cleveland Browns have announced that they have placed quarterback Brian Hoyer on their injured reserve list.

Hoyer tore his ACL during his side's win over the Buffalo Bills last week and was forced to leave the field.

Tests on his right knee showed that he needed surgery that would rule him out for six months, and as a result the Browns have placed him on IR to end his season.

Hoyer had assumed the starting quarterback role from Brandon Weeden before his injury, but now the former first-round pick will start again for Chudzinski's side for the remainder of the campaign.

The Browns face the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
