Report: Watkins to play in season opener

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins is expected to be fit for his side's 2014 season opener against the Chicago Bears, according to a report.

The 21-year-old sustained a rib injury in his side's pre-season defeat to the Detroit Lions after attempting to catch a pass from quarterback EJ Manuel.

However, the injury has not been deemed serious enough to rule the receiver out of the clash with the Bears at Soldier Field on September 7, reports NFL Network.

Watkins was selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2014 Draft.
