There was nothing to choose between the teams in the first set before Brazil started to up the pressure when the teams were at 15-15. They won 10 of the next 13 points to take the first set 25-18.
Brazil started the second set the way they finished the first and rushed into a 6-2 lead. A mini-revival saw Japan pull the scores back to 10-9, but the Brazilians were too strong and took the set 25-15.
Japan were still unable to take the lead in the third set and were always a point or two down and when Brazil went up 8-5 it looked ominous for their opponents.
Japan were unable to win enough consecutive points and Brazil took the third 25-18 to wrap up a 3-0 win.
