Serena Williams: 'It's hard to feel excited about beating Venus'

Serena Williams confesses that she was struggling to be happy about beating her sister Venus William in straight sets in the fourth round of Wimbledon.

Serena Williams has conceded that it was hard to be "excited" by her victory over her sister Venus Williams at Wimbledon.

The world number one advanced to the quarter-finals of the competition with a straight-sets victory over the 35-year-old, but Serena admits that it was hard to be too happy with her win because of her close relationship with her sister.

She told reporters: "It's hard to feel excited beating someone you root for all the time and you love and is your best friend in the whole world. It definitely doesn't get easier to play her but I was thinking 'I'm 33 and she's just turned 35 and I don't know how many more moments like this we'll have'.

"It was such a great vibe, such a great situation to be in. I plan on playing for years but who knows if we'll have a chance to play again. But we're both playing really good.

"I definitely think it could present itself again. I just wanted to take the moment in. When we were eight years old, we dreamed of these moments. It was kind of surreal."

The 33-year-old will face Victoria Azarenka in the last eight of the competition.
