Serena beats Venus in battle of Williams sisters

Serena Williams remains on course for her sixth Wimbledon title with a win over sister Venus in the fourth round at SW19.

Serena Williams has recorded a straight-sets victory over sister Venus Williams to move closer to her sixth Wimbledon title.

The world number one, who is looking for her third Grand Slam crown of 2015, prevailed by a 6-4 6-3 scoreline on Monday afternoon.

After finishing strongly against Heather Watson on Friday, Serena made a real statement of intent at the start of the match by immediately breaking her sister's serve.

Venus struck back to get back on level terms but Serena was producing the more consistent tennis and a second break of serve secured the opening set.

The opening six games of the second went with serve, despite Serena creating numerous break points, but in the seventh, she converted at the sixth time of asking to move two games away from a place in the last eight.

That game broke the resolve of Venus, who surrendered her serve for a second game in succession to allow her younger sibling to move through to the quarter-finals.
