Stanislas Wawrinka: 'I can dominate Novak Djokovic'

Stanislas Wawrinka suggests that he is the only player who can fully dominate Novak Djokovic.

French Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka has insisted that he is the only player on the tour who can dominate world number one Novak Djokovic from the back of the court.

The Swiss won his second Grand Slam title with victory over Djokovic in Paris earlier this month, and he claims that the Serbian doesn't like playing against him.

He told The Telegraph: "Entering the final in Paris, I was seeing Novak winning everything. He didn't lose a match on clay, he was the big favourite.

"But I still thought, 'Play your game, he doesn't like you, he doesn't like the way you play your game, you're the only player who can really push him back, who can really make him feel uncomfortable.' And that's what happened in the final.

"Little by little, already at the end of the first set, I started to be maybe 20cm in front [in my court position], and he started to be a little bit back, and little by little I was dictating. And for sure, it gave me a lot of confidence."

The pair are in the same half of the draw at Wimbledon, and could meet in the semi-finals.
