The Rio 2016 mascots for the Olympics and Paralympics have been unveiled to represent the animals and plants of Brazil.

The organisers of Rio 2016 have unveiled mascots for the Olympics and Paralympics due to be held in two years' time.

A yellow Olympics mascot has been chosen to represent the animals of Brazil, while the Paralympics figure is blue and demonstrates the "fusion of plants" found in the forests.

The mascots' names will be decided by poll, but a shortlist has been drawn up, with options Oba and Eba, Vinicius and Tom, and Tiba Tuque and Esquindim available.

The names will be chosen on December 14.
