Arsenal issue safety warning ahead of CSKA Moscow trip

Arsenal supporters are urged to "remain vigilant" when travelling to CSKA Moscow for the team's Europa League clash.

Arsenal have urged supporters who are planning to travel to CSKA Moscow for next month's Europa League clash to heed advice provided by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

In light of the current diplomatic climate between the UK and Russia, fans have been warned to expect the possibility of "anti-British sentiment or harassment" and remain vigilant at all times.

"Due to heightened political tensions between the UK and Russia, you should be aware of the possibility of anti-British sentiment or harassment at this time; you're advised to remain vigilant, avoid any protests or demonstrations and avoid commenting publicly on political developments," read a statement shared on the official Arsenal website.

"While the British Embassy in Moscow is not aware of any increased difficulties for British people travelling in Russia at this time, you should follow the security and political situation closely and keep up to date with this travel advice."

Gunners fans are also advised to keep checking the UK government's website for updated travel information as it emerges.

Arsenal play host to CSKA for the first leg of the quarter-final on April 5, before travelling to the Russian capital on April 12.
