Preview: Wrexham vs. Woking - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's National League clash between Wrexham and Woking, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Wrexham will look to strengthen their position to challenge for the National League title on Tuesday evening, as they host Woking at the Racecourse Ground.

After defeat in the FA Cup to Sheffield United, Wrexham were able to bounce back in their convincing 3-1 victory against Wealdstone, while Woking were able to overturn a two-goal deficit to ensure a point in a 2-2 draw against Boreham Wood.

Wrexham come into this fixture in phenomenal form, going 17 consecutive league matches unbeaten to leave them sitting second in the table, four points behind leaders Notts County and with two games in hand on their title rivals.

The hosts maintained their pursuit of the title in their most recent affair against Wealdstone, as Paul Mullin, Jacob Mendy and Sam Dalby all got their names on the scoresheet, giving them a vital three points.

Phil Parkinson's side have been superb in every aspect of the game this season, having the second-best defensive record per match played in the division, while also recording the most goals per match played, making them a complete side.

With 12 goals in their last five matches Wrexham are in great goalscoring form as of late, which will be important as they face up against one of the best defences in the league.

A sensational 100% record of 13 games played and 13 wins at home this season gives Wrexham the upper hand in this matchup, as they average a staggering 3.6 goals per game at the Racecourse Ground.

Meanwhile, Woking are currently third in the National League table and look set to finish in the top seven this season, amassing four more points already than they managed throughout the whole of last term.

Although, despite only being one position behind the hosts in the league table, there is a considerable disparity in the points tallies between the two sides, with Wrexham coming into this game with 14 more points than the visitors.

In their previous match Woking managed to steal a point from the jaws of defeat, as Rhys Browne took matters into his own hands after the home side found themselves 2-0 down within 57 minutes, scoring a brace to the delight of Darren Sarll.

Woking will come into this game believing that they can acquire a result away from home, as they hold the third-best record on the road this season, winning 29 points in their 15 matches.

However, Woking will be aware of the dangers that Wrexham pose in this affair, as they have a dreadful recent record against the hosts, having lost five of the last six times they have faced them.

Team News

It is likely that Parkinson will make no changes to the side that defeated Wealdstone in their most recent fixture.

Ollie Palmer, Thomas O'Connor and Elliot Lee all made their return to the side in Wrexham's previous match and are all set to remain in the starting XI.

Aaron Hayden is expected to miss this clash, as he is still out after picking up an injury against Sheffield United in the FA Cup.

Woking are also set to start this game with the same side that started against Boreham Wood in their last match.

Sid Nelson will still be unavailable for his side due to suspension.

Wrexham possible starting lineup:
Howard; Forde, E'Connell, Tozer, O'Connor, McFadzean; Young, Jones, Lee; Mullin, Palmer

Woking possible starting lineup:
Ross; Cuthbert, Casey, Wilkinson, Moss; Ince, Hessenthaler, Kellerman; Browne, Amond, Daly

We say: Wrexham 3-1 Woking

We believe that while Woking will make a good account of themselves in this matchup, Wrexham will be able to impose themselves on the away side and will score more than once.

Woking will cause Wrexham issues, but they will not have the attacking firepower to push Wrexham back and will lose this game 3-1.
