Scott Carson: 'Wigan Athletic aiming for playoff success'

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Scott Carson says that the team is hoping to play at Wembley again this season in the Championship playoff final.

Scott Carson has said that Wigan Athletic want to play at Wembley again this season in the Championship playoff final.

The Latics were knocked out of the FA Cup at the semi-final stage at the stadium yesterday, losing 4-2 on penalties to Arsenal.

The goalkeeper told TheFA.com: "It just wasn't to be, but we have to give ourselves credit and we can be proud that we took them all the way to penalties.

"Our aim now is to come back here in May in the playoff final. We have to take a lot of confidence out of this, come back, and cement ourselves in the Premier League, there won't be too many teams that want to play us."

Wigan, who were relegated from the top flight last season, currently sit fifth in the table.
