Live Commentary: Olympic women's football - day two - as it happened

Sports Mole brings you live commentary from the second day of women's football at the Olympics. The likes of Team GB, the USA and Brazil are all in action.

Good morning and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage from day two of women's football at the Olympic Games.

Having won their opening fixture against New Zealand on Wednesday afternoon, a lot of the spotlight will be on Hope Powell's Team GB, who take on Cameroon at 5.15pm.

Before that, the likes of Brazil and the USA are in action, both of whom won their first match at the Games.

21.41Thank you for joining us throughout the day/night. Again, sorry for the technical problems earlier. We'll be back tomorrow as the men play their second round of fixtures. Goodbye for now.

21.40Group G as it stands:

USA: 6 points
France: 3 points
DPR Korea: 3 points
Colombia: 0 points

21.38We already have a match report up. Where you ask? Here!

21.37Well where did that come from?! An awful 45 minutes was followed by some great football by the French, who hit Korea for five. The introduction of substitute Thomis certainly changed the game.

21.36RESULT: France 5-0 Korea

90+2 minOne minute left. France are in cruise control.

90 minThree minutes of stoppage time to be played. You feel it cannot end quick enough for Korea.

88 minFrance have been fantastic during the last 20 minutes. Thomis (who else) crosses from the right for Camille Catala, who guides a header into the far corner from 10 yards out. Really good goal.

86 minGOAL! France 5-0 Korea (Catala)

85 minWhy couldn't the whole match have been like this?!

84 minIt's all happening now! Sonia Bompastor is tripped up inside the area. Penalty you say? No! The referee books her for diving instead. Awful decision.

82 minIf you said to be at half-time that this match would have four goals in it, I'd have laughed at you! However, that is exactly what has happened. Not to be outdone by her centre-back partner Georges, Wendie Renard rises highest inside the area to head in.

81 minGOAL! France 4-0 Korea (Renard)

80 minI'm still astounded by the fact that Thomis didn't feature from the start in this one! She has been dangerous since coming on as a sub and almost scored a moment ago with a lobbed effort.

76 minFrance are in complete command now, while Korea look like they just want the game to end!

72 minWhy did Thomis not start this match? Madness! She raids down the right wing before unselfishly crossing for Delie, who has the simplest of tap ins. Easy!

72 minGOAL! France 3-0 Korea (Delie)

70 minSuper sub! Thomis comes off the bench to slot into the near post from an acute angle. Surely France will hold onto the points now.

69 minGOAL! France 2-0 Korea (Thomis)

67 minChance for the French. Delie finds herself unmarked in the area but she shoots high and wide.

62 minSub for France. Sommer is replaced by her Lyon teammate Thomis.

59 minNot a lot happening once again!

55 minA shot from distance by Song forces France goalkeeper Bouhaddi into pushing the ball to safety.

54 minSome neat passing football from Korea, but they are not really going anywhere with it at the moment.

52 minSubstitution for Korea. Kim off and Choe on.

48 minEarly chance for France, but Necib opts to pass when the goal was at her mercy.

45 minThe players are back. Surely the second half will be an improvement on the first, won't it?! Korea get us underway...

20.34Our very own Matt Law has done his best to sum up that half with a report. You can view it here.

20.33For 44 minutes that game was poor - and that is being kind! However, a header from Georges has put the French in command of a game they need to win.

20.32HALF-TIME: France 1-0 Korea

45 minWould you Adam n Eve it! A goal! Laura Georges runs into the box unmarked to power in a header from close range. Bullet header from the defender and at a great time as well!

44 minGOAL! France 0-1 Korea (Georges)

43 minA shot from France. Okay, it wasn't a very good one, but it was a shot nonetheless. Delie fires wide from a narrow angle.

39 minStill little happening. Both goalkeepers could have had a day off so far.

34 minStill no shots! It seems neither team wants to win this at the moment.

30 minWe've played 30 minutes and I can remember one shot at goal. Just one!

27 minIt seems after that little bit of drama, normal service has been resumed unfortunately. Both teams have been so sloppy in possession.

23 minBlimey, some action! France's Renard gets above her marker but her header is cleared to safety on the line. That's woken me up from my slumber!

23 minBlimey, some action! France's Renard gets above her marker but her header is cleared to safety on the line. That's woken me up from my slumber!

22 minHalf a chance for France, but they try too many passes and the ball is cleared. I say a half chance, think I'm clutching at straws!

18 minThese two sides are currently ranked within the top eight in the world by FIFA. Would be nice if they could start playing like it!

13 minNot a lot to report at present. Neither goalkeeper has been called into any meaningful action so far.

9 minBoth sides are struggling to keep hold of the ball at the moment. Scrappy stuff.

7 minYun is up and the game continues.

5 minPlay is stopped as Song Yun is down and receiving treatment on her knee.

2 min...But again the delivery is poor and Korea clear. France have started brightly in this one though.

2 minAnother corner for France...

2 min...The corner is deep. Too deep in all honesty and Korea clear the danger.

1 minEarly corner for France as Korean goalkeeper Jo commits an error...

1 minFrance get us underway...

19.45A win for Korea here will see them qualify, while knocking out France in the process. Big game coming up for both nations.

19.45Everything goes smoothly (thankfully!) and we are about ready to get underway.

19.42Anthem time! Please let the organisers get the right flag this time!

19.40During their opening matches France lost 4-2 to the USA, while Korea won 2-0 against Colombia.

19.39Here we go again! The players of France and Korea are just about to enter the Hampden Park pitch for the final women's match of the day.

19.17As mentioned earlier, we will be bringing you coverage of France's match against Korea, which gets underway at 7.45pm. Stay tuned.

19.13Team GB face Brazil on Tuesday at Wembley for the right to advance as group winners. New Zealand and Cameroon will be battling to advance as one of the best runner-ups.

19.11So, Group E as it stands:

Brazil: 6 points

Team GB: 6 points

N Zealand: 0 points

Cameroon: 0 points

All nations have played two matches each.

19.09And as if by magic, here's our report of the previous 90 minutes. Enjoy!

19.08Hope Powell's Team GB reach the quarter-finals with a game to spare! Professional performance from the team, who scored three goals without reply.

19.07RESULT: Team GB 3-0 Cameroon

93 min...No is the answer! Ngo comes out to catch the ball.

93 minCorner to GB. Can they grab a fourth...

92 minNgo almost lets GB in for another goal, but she just gets enough on her clearance.

92 minGB look like they are going to let the next couple of minutes pass by without any drama. They are in command here.

90 minFour minutes of stoppage time to be played.

87 min...But Carney's delivery is weak and easily cleared.

86 minYankey, who has been quiet so far, wins a free-kick for GB wide on the left...

84 minQuickly shooting back to Hampden. Here is our match report from the USA's 3-0 win over Colombia.

82 minPowerful strike from left-back Houghton, who fires in from the edge of the box after a cut back from Little. That's two in two for Houghton. Game over.

82 minGOAL! Team GB 3-0 Cameroon (Houghton)

81 minBack in Cardiff, Ngo pulls off a great diving save to turn away a shot from Little.

80 minThe USA have all but booked their place in the final eight with three good goals against Colombia.

80 minRESULT: USA 3-0 Colombia

79 minFinal substitution for Cameroon. Striker Ngono is replaced by Enganamouit.

75 minGB are becoming a little wasteful in possession. To be honest, both teams look to have accepted the outcome of this match.

72 minLooking ahead to later tonight, France take on Korea. Here is the team news for that fixture.

70 minSome decent possession for Cameroon, but they are not really going anywhere with it. GB, at the moment, look solid at the back.

68 minDieke leaves the pitch on a stretcher and she is replaced in defence by Bradley.

67 minBack in Cardiff, it doesn't look good for GB's Dieke. She goes down a bit like Bambi on ice and twists her knee. Her game is up.

66 minAmerica's goals have been like London buses! Lloyd again is the goalscorer, rounding off a neat passing move with a slotted finish from 12 yards out. Game, set and the match.

65 minGOAL! USA 3-0 Colombia (Lloyd)

64 minThat should be the game for the USA! Carli Lloyd collects a pass from Rapinoe before guiding the ball into the net. A lot for Colombia to do now and so little time to do it.

63 minGOAL! USA 2-0 Colombia (Lloyd)

62 minCameroon also decide to make a sub. Nchout takes the place of Yango, whose last action was to commit a foul!

60 minAnother sub for GB. Asante comes off to be replaced by Fara Williams

59 minChance for Cameroon. Ngono breaks free but her shot is deflected into the side netting. The resultant corner comes to nothing.

58 minThere are 20 minutes remaining at Hampden. USA still lead Colombia 1-0.

57 minBardsley atones though to collect the drilled effort and restart another GB attack. Meanwhile, Asante is back with us after receiving treatment.

56 minBit of confusion here. Cameroon are awarded a free-kick on the edge of the area after goalkeeper Bardsley is adjudged to have carried the ball out of her box. GB contest the decision, but to no avail.

54 minAsante was actually kicked in the face as she headed goalwards. She is now down and receiving treatment.

54 min...which Little takes. Ngo comes out and misses, but Asante is unable to get enough power on her header and the danger is cleared.

53 minHoughton has GB's first shot of the half, which Ngo tips wide for a corner...

50 minCameroon have actually started this half brightly. They have been asking questions of the GB defence, which they have so far been able to answer.

47 minCameroon's Iven goes down clutching her knee. It takes her a while to get up. She limps off, but may not be able to continue.

45 minCameroon get the second half underway...

18.19GB coach Powell has also made a substitution for the start of the half. Rachel Yanky replaces Kelly Smith.

18.18The players are returning in Cardiff. Can Team GB make it a convincing victory? They lead 2-0.

18.18The players are returning in Cardiff. Can Team GB make it a convincing victory? They lead 2-0.

18.12The USA are having all the possession at the moment, without really troubling the Colombian rearguard.

18.06Meanwhile, they are back underway at Hampden Park. USA are leading Colombia 1-0.

18.06For those who after some half-time reading, try our report of the match so far from Matt Law.

18.04Well that was a little bit easy for Team GB. They could, and perhaps should have been at least four goals to the good in this one. Nevertheless, they lead 2-0 and a professional performance after the restart will see them claim the points.

18.03HALF-TIME: Team GB 2-0 Cameroon

45+1 minAlmost for Cameroon! A rare venture forward ends with Zouga curling an effort just beyond the post from 25 yards out.

45 minThree minutes of stoppage time to be played.

43 minIn the words of Paul Merson: 'GB have hit the beans on toast!'. Houghton's goalward header is turned onto the woodwork by Ngo. The break cannot come quick enough for Cameroon.

40 minAnother chance for GB. Arsenal's Kim Little beats the offside trap, but her shot is blocked by Ngo in goal.

38 minGB are dominating this match at the moment. Look's to be only a matter of time before their lead is extended further.

37 minAlmost! Smith goes for the near post, but her effort brushes the side netting.

36 minIt has been an eventful couple of minutes for sub Medoua. Having cleared one off the line, she hacks down Scott on the edge area. Lucky to have escaped with a booking. What can Smith do with the free-kick?

35 minHere's our half-time report of the USA'a match against Colombia.

34 minHALF-TIME: USA 1-0 Colombia

34 minAnd immediately Beyene is called into action. Smith's deflected shot appeared to be heading for the net until Beyene retreated to hack clear for a corner.

33 minMeanwhile, back in Cardiff, substitution for Cameroon. An unhappy Beyene is replaced by Medoua

31 minIt is advantage USA in the other ongoing match as Megan Rapione scores from distance against Colombia.

28 minGOAL! USA 1-0 Colombia (Rapinoe)

23 minDon't want to get too ahead of myself here, but this one could be over already! Jill Scott finishes off a neat passing move with the a composed finish from 12 yards out. Long way back for Cameroon now.

22 minGOAL! Team GB 2-0 Cameroon (Scott)

19 minA captain's goal from Casey Stoney, who ghosts in at the back post to bundle the ball over the line. Massive goal for Team GB. Questions will now be asked of Cameroon. What, if any, bouncebackability do they have?

18 minGOAL! Team GB 1-0 Cameroon (Stoney)

17 minChance for GB, who have a free-kick wide on the left...

14 minCarney is looking bright for GB. She produces another cross from the right, which her teammates really should have done better with.

13 minFirst real chance for Smith to show what she can do, but she squanders possession inside the Cameroon penalty area and ends up giving away a foul.

9 minChance for GB. Smith and Carney link well for the latter to whip over a cross. However, no striker is in the box and the danger is cleared. Would have been an easy header for any advancing strikers.

7 minGB are yet to get Kelly Smith into the match. She is the playmaker in this lineup.

4 minOnguene is looking dangerous for Cameroon. She may have overrun the ball a moment ago, but it is warning to GB that she is willing to take players on.

3 minAlex Scott almost plays in Karen Carney on the edge of the area. However, Scott's pass is overhit and the ball rolls out for a goal kick. Positive start from GB.

1 minGB immediately on the attack. Cameroon at the moment are looking strong in defence.

17.15Team GB get us underway...

17.14The Cameroon coach believes that his side can spring a surprise today! What do you reckon? Would be one of the biggest surprises at the Games so far if it happens.

17.13Crossing over to the Millennium Stadium now, where Team GB and Cameroon are out and almost ready to go. Big 90 minutes coming up.

17.11Cheney has the ball in the net for the USA, but the goal is ruled out for a foul in the build-up. Bright start by the Americans.

17.07There is barely anybody at Hampden watching this match. You can every shout that the players are making. Let's hope more people turn up to cheer on Team GB!

17.03And they're off! Fancy a win for USA here - 2-0. You heard it here first!

17.01They also have Carmen Rodallega starting up front. She is the cousin of Fulham frontman Hugo.

17.00A win is massively important for Colombia, having lost their opening game against Korea 2-0.

17.00A win is massively important for Colombia, having lost their opening game against Korea 2-0.

16.59The USA and Colombia are two minutes away from kick-off. Victory for the US will see them all but book their place in the final eight.

16.51Last time out Cameroon were comfortably disposed of 5-0 by Brazil. Granted, Brazil were on top form, but some of the defending from the African side will have given the British attackers hope for this evening.

16.50On paper, and no disrespect to Cameroon, but Team GB should be winning this one.

16.46TEAM NEWS! The starting lineups are in for GB's match against Cameroon. Find out whose in and whose out here.

16.44We haven't forgotten USA vs. Colombia by the way, which gets underway at 5pm. Updates will be provided as the evening progresses.

16.42Attention now turns to Hope Powell's Team GB. Victory over Cameroon at 5.15pm will see them qualify for the quarter-finals along with Brazil.

16.40The final group matches will be played on Tuesday. Canada play Sweden, while South Africa take on Japan.

16.38Here's our match report from Canada's comfortable win in Coventry.

16.37Group F:

Sweden 4 points
Japan 4 points
Canada 3 points
S Africa 0 points

All nations have played two matches.

16.36And that will probably be the end of the road for South Africa. They've lost their opening two matches heavily. Canada march on though.

16.35RESULT: Canada 3-0 South Africa

16.30That draws means that both Sweden and Japan are joint top of Group F with four points apiece. The other game at that group sees Canada taking on South Africa. It's currently 3-0 in favour of the Canadians, with two minutes remaining.

16.28We haven't been sitting around doing nothing while we've been away! Here's our match report from that fixture.

16.27Now, let's take you back to what happened earlier this afternoon. Despite both sides creating numerous chances, neither Japan nor Sweden were able to find the net at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

16.26And here is a match report of Brazil's late win.

16.25Great results for the Brazilians, which all but confirms their slot in the next round. New Zealand, having now lost their opening two games, must beat Cameroon next time out and hope to qualify as one of the best runner-ups.

16.23RESULT: New Zealand 0-1 Brazil

16.18And straight away we have a goal! What a time to score for the Brazilians. Cristiane scores with three minutes remaining to surely put her side in the quarter-finals, breaking New Zealand hearts in the process.

16.17GOAL! New Zealand 0-1 Brazil (Cristiane)

16.14Hello again! Firstly, a big sorry for the lack of updates this afternoon! Technical problems, which we are still working on, have caused the problems. Fingers crossed that it is all sorted soon! After all, as the great Miley Cyrus once sung: 'Nobody's perfect'

11.55Over to you Sweden...

11.54Japan's are up first where the anthems are concerned. Hopefully the organisers have got the right one!!!

11.53Here come the players. Almost game time.

11.51Just seeing shots of the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. Have to say the crowd numbers have been disappointing so far. It isn't even half full at the moment.

11.49With both of these having won their first matches, victory here would all but qualify them for the quarter-finals of the competition. That could suit the Swedes, who like to play attacking football.

11.43For Japan, I would make Yuki Ogimi the player to watch. She looked dangerous against Canada and the Swedish rearguard will have to be at their best to deny her.

11.39While many players impressed during the opening round of matches, I have to admit that Sweden's Lotta Schelin caught the eye. The Lyon striker came into the tournament with a reputation as a prolific goalscorer and she didn't disappoint - scoring two against the South Africans!

11.34Both of these teams were impressive during their first games of the tournament. Japan beat Canada 2-1, while Sweden ran out 4-1 winners against South Africa.

11.27Right, let's turn our attention to the opening game of the day. Sports Mole's very own Matt Law brings you the team news from Coventry here.

11.23Got it?! Good!

11.22And the day is ended by France's match against DPR Korea.

11.215.15pm is the one many of you will be waiting for. Team GB face Cameroon, who were beaten 5-0 by Brazil in their opening game.

11.20Then at 2.45pm Canada play South Africa. Following that at 5pm it will be the turn of the USA, who face Colombia.

11.19Let's run you through the schedule. Japan open up against Sweden at 12pm, before New Zealand face Brazil at 2.30pm.

11.18I'll be bringing you live coverage from the second day of women's football, which promises to be a fascinating day.

11.15Morning all! Have we all recovered from the exuberance of last night's opening ceremony? Let's hope so!
