Swansea City's Jack Cork: 'We'll aim higher next season'

Jack Cork is confident that Swansea City can aim higher than this season's record-breaking campaign when the Premier League returns in August.

Swansea City midfielder Jack Cork has insisted that the team can do even better next season after the club recorded their best-ever finish to a Premier League campaign.

Manager Garry Monk will lead the Welsh outfit to a record points total when they play their final game of the season against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Swansea currently have 56 points and they will finish eighth in the table, which Cork believes can be a stepping stone to future success.

"You aim to do better than you did the previous year," the South Wales Evening Post quotes Cork as saying. "There's no point setting targets any lower.

"We have to achieve what we have this season or better. If you look at our squad, if no-one leaves we've got young players who are hitting their peak so if they didn't perform next year it would be a bit strange. If we can keep this going and start the season strong there's no reason why we can't do even better."

Cork joined the Swans from Southampton in the January transfer window.
