Lee Cattermole will miss Sunderland's next four matches while Stephane Sessegnon is forced to sit out of three games.

Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole has been hit with a four-match ban after seeing red in the Tyne-Wear derby, while Stephane Sessegnon will miss the next three games.

Sessegnon was sent off during Sunderland's 1-1 draw with North East rivals Newcastle United yesterday following an elbow to Cheick Tiote's face.

Cattermole received his dismissal after the final whistle due to his confrontation with referee Mike Dean.

Due to the 23-year-old's record of ten yellow cards this season, the punishment has lengthened to a four-game suspension.
