Harry Kane brace helps Tottenham Hotspur past Norwich City

Harry Kane scores twice to help Tottenham Hotspur to a 3-0 victory over Norwich City, solidifying their place in the top four of the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur have solidified their place in the top four of the Premier League with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Norwich City at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

The hosts held a two-goal lead at the break courtesy of Harry Kane's brace, and a third from Tom Carroll 10 minutes from time wrapped up the three points for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

It could have been even better for Kane had he snapped up a close-range chance midway through the first half, but he was handed an immediate opportunity to atone for his miss when Declan Rudd brought him down inside the penalty area.

Kane took the spot kick himself and confidently swept it past the Norwich keeper to break the deadlock after 26 minutes.

Kane's second came on the counter-attack when he was picked out by Dele Alli before firing a crisp effort into the bottom corner from the right side of the penalty area.

Spurs continued to look the only team likely to score in the second half too as Erik Lamela was denied by Rudd twice in quick succession 10 minutes after the restart, before Rudd again came out on top in their personal duel later in the second half.

The third goal finally did arrive for Spurs, however, as Carroll collected Ben Davies's pass before advancing towards the box and arrowing a low drive straight into the bottom corner from 25 yards.

Norwich did have a late chance to pull one back through Dieumerci Mbokani, but Hugo Lloris was equal to the Norwich striker's effort as Spurs held on for a second consecutive clean sheet.

The defeat leaves Norwich 17th in the table, only outside the relegation zone on goal difference, while Spurs now have a two-point cushion to fifth place.
