Half-Time Report: Etienne Capoue rescues Tottenham Hotspur in explosive first half

Etienne Capoue nets a stoppage-time equaliser as Spurs come from two goals down to hold Burnley to a 2-2 half-time draw in their third-round FA Cup replay.

Etienne Capoue has netted a stoppage-time equaliser as Tottenham Hotspur came from two goals down to hold Burnley to a 2-2 half-time draw in tonight's third-round FA Cup replay.

Despite sitting some 11 places below their North London counterparts in the Premier League table, the Clarets raced out of the traps and boasted a two-goal lead inside eight minutes.

First, Marvin Sordell latched on to Kieran Trippier's ball before smashing past Michel Vorm, before Ross Wallace's deflected free kick compounded Spurs' woes at White Hart Lane.

Punchdrunk Tottenham soon sprung to life, however, as Paulinho reduced the arrears by guiding Roberto Soldado's flick-on past Tom Heaton in what proved an explosive first 10 minutes.

Mauricio Pochettino's side continued on in the same vein in their bid for an equaliser, and Benjamin Stambouli went close by firing Vlad Chirches lay-off narrowly over the bar.

Burnley looked like holding on to earn a half-time lead, but Capoue smashed home a Ben Davies cross late on to peg back the Clarets.
