Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Alaves

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's La Liga clash with Alaves.

Real Madrid will be looking to make the perfect start to their 2021-22 La Liga season when they travel to Alaves on Saturday night.

Los Blancos finished second behind Atletico Madrid in Spain's top flight last term, and it has been a summer of change at the club, with club captain Sergio Ramos and head coach Zinedine Zidane among those to move on.

Carlo Ancelotti is back for a second spell as manager, and the Italian will be determined to put an early three points on the board.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of their battle with Alaves.

Toni Kroos

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hip
Possible return date: Unknown

Real Madrid will have to start the new season without Kroos, who is struggling with a hip problem, and it is currently unclear when the Germany international will be available for the capital giants.

Ferland Mendy

Status: Out
Type of injury: Leg
Possible return date: Unknown

Mendy is still recovering from the troublesome leg injury that forced him to miss the end of last season, and Real Madrid are yet to confirm when the Frenchman might be available for selection once again.

Dani Carvajal

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

Carvajal only made 13 league appearances last term due to his injury problems, and he is yet to fully recover from the muscular issue that saw him miss the end of last season, so the Spaniard is out of this contest.

Alvaro Odriozola

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Real Madrid will be without the services of Odriozola this weekend, as the Spanish defender recently tested positive for coronavirus, leaving Ancelotti without two first-team right-backs for the contest.

Karim Benzema

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Fitness
Possible return date: August 14 (vs. Alaves)

Benzema has not been officially ruled out of this match, but the striker has only just returned to training after testing positive for coronavirus, so it would not be a surprise to see the forward sit this one out.

Eden Hazard

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: August 14 (vs. Alaves)

Hazard faces a battle to prove his fitness for Saturday's contest, as he attempts to overcome the hamstring injury that cut short his Euro 2020 campaign for Belgium. The 30-year-old, though, is thought to be winning his fitness race.

Dani Ceballos

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Dani Ceballos is facing a spell on the sidelines with the ankle problem that he picked up while representing Spain Under-23s at the Tokyo Olympics over the summer.
