Half-Time Report: Real Madrid in control against Granada

Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez score to give Real Madrid a 2-0 half-time lead over Granada in La Liga.

Real Madrid have opened up a 2-0 lead over Granada in the first half of their La Liga clash at Estadio Los Carmenes this afternoon.

The visitors were ahead inside the opening two minutes when Karim Benzema crossed the ball for Cristiano Ronaldo to slice into the bottom corner from close range.

Benzema could have added a goal of his own a few minutes later when he picked up a through ball from James Rodriguez, but his shot was blocked.

Granada fought hard to try to keep the visitors at bay, but Real continued to press, with Ronaldo threading the ball through for Daniel Carvajal, but the defender's finish was high and wide.

Carlo Ancelotti's side doubled their lead with just over half-an-hour on the board as Rodriguez controlled a high ball forward before launching it into the top corner.

Eddy tried to pull one back for the hosts late on from a free kick, but his delivery into the box was easily cleared by Pepe.
