Pepe doubtful for Champions League final

Real Madrid defender Pepe could miss the Champions League final after picking up a calf problem.

Real Madrid defender Pepe is a major doubt for the Champions League final after picking up a calf problem against Real Valladolid on Wednesday.

Pepe completed the 90 minutes of the 1-1 draw, but after undergoing tests on Friday the Portuguese international has been diagnosed with a "grade one muscle injury" to his left calf.

While the club haven't confirmed his absence, the injury is likely to keep the 31-year-old out of Madrid's remaining games in La Liga while he faces a race against time to be fit for the European showdown with city rivals Atletico Madrid.

Carlo Ancelotti's side are already without the suspended Xabi Alonso, while Cristiano Ronaldo is currently struggling with a minor injury issue.
