Sports Mole previews Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash between Rangers and St Mirren, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Rangers are working hard this season to try and regain the Scottish Premiership, and right now they are in the hunt to do exactly that as they sit in second place.

The Gers have only lost a single game in the league so far this season, which was their Old Firm derby against Celtic, and their dominance has been clear.

Having scored 20 goals throughout the campaign so far Rangers have proven that they can be an attacking threat, and that was on display last weekend against Hearts.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men secured a 4-0 victory in that game after goals from Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, and a brace from Antonio Colak.

However, Rangers could not bring that same quality in midweek when they were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool, which is a result that they are now trying to put behind them.

St Mirren are only four points behind their opponents at the moment, and a victory on Saturday would put serious pressure on the Gers while helping to cement their own European position.

The Buddies have won consecutive games heading into this one after a huge win against Celtic was followed up by another when they faced Livingston last weekend.

A red card to Jonah Ayunga made things difficult for Steve Robinson's team, particularly since they conceded a goal in the 89th minute.

However, St Mirren showcased their fighting spirit by pushing until the end as Alex Greive scored in the 90th minute to secure the three points.

That type of attitude could be crucial for the Buddies this weekend against one of the strongest teams in the league.

Team News

After Morelos scored in the last outing that Rangers had in the league there is a good chance that his experience could be called upon again this weekend.

Meanwhile James Sands could also feature in the starting lineup after he had to miss out against Liverpool due to suspension in the Champions League.

Following another impressive victory last week, St Mirren might end up boasting a relatively unchanged starting XI against the Gers.

Despite that, there will be one change as Ayunga is going to be unavailable after he was shown a red card against Livingston.

Rangers possible starting lineup:
McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Barisic; Lundstram, Davis, Jack; Tillman, Morelos, Kent

St Mirren possible starting lineup:
Carson; Strain, Fraser, Gallagher, Dunne, Tanser; Baccus, Erhahon, O'Hara; Main, Kiltie

We say: Rangers 2-1 St Mirren

Two of the strongest, and most confident teams in the Scottish Premiership colliding is surely set to create an engaging and closely fought contest.

However, Rangers have the experience factor in big games such as this, and their attacking abilities should be enough to see them through here.
