Points shared between Queens Park Rangers, Aston Villa

Queens Park Rangers must continue their search for a first Premier League win of the season following a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa at Loftus Road.

Harry Redknapp has been forced to settle for a point from his first home game as Queens Park Rangers manager thanks to a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

Despite enjoying a good spell of possession in the early stages, QPR fell behind in the eighth minute when Robert Green failed to get a strong hand to Brett Holman's 25-yard strike.

However, Villa's lead only lasted 10 minutes as Jamie Mackie equalised with a looping header following a deep cross from Samba Diakite.

QPR continued to enjoy more of the ball but were frustrated in their attempts to find a second goal with Shaun Wright-Phillips forcing a save from Brad Guzan before striking the post with a second shot just moments later.

On the stroke of half time, the contest was stopped for over six minutes following a collision between Stephane Mbia and Gabriel Agbonlahor, with the QPR midfielder being forced to leave the field on a stretcher due to a neck injury.

Park Ji-Sung was brought on by Redknapp at the start of the second half and the midfielder should have scored after finding space inside the box but Guzan reacted nimbly to block the shot.

The match fizzled out as the second half progressed and Villa did well to survive some late pressure, with Clint Hill heading against the crossbar before the final whistle was blown.
