Carlos Eduardo strike earns Nice draw against Caen

Nice earn a 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Caen after Carlos Eduardo cancels out Nicolas Benezet's strike.

Carlos Eduardo's effort before half time helped Nice pick up a 1-1 draw against Caen in their quest for Ligue 1 survival.

Caen took the lead on 15 minutes when Nicolas Benezet latched onto Bengali-Fode Koita's through pass before slotting the ball beyond the reach of keeper Mouez Hassan.

However, Nice gave their own survival bid a boost when an Alassane Plea cross was headed into the top corner by Eduardo.

The visitors almost edged back in front on the stroke of half time when Koita's shot from the edge of the box was kept out Hassan.

Soon after the restart, Benezet squandered a chance to score his second of the night when he blazed over from the edge of the box.

Caen had a late flurry of opportunities to snatch victory when Emiliano Sala and Koita had two shots apiece without netting a winner.

In the end, both sides were forced to settle for a point that leaves Caen two points above the bottom three and Nice five clear of the drop zone.
