Newcastle United midfielder Jonas Gutierrez feels that his teammate Papiss Cisse deserved to score his side's crucial winner against Fulham.

Newcastle United winger Jonas Gutierrez has hailed his teammate Papiss Cisse following his vital winner in their clash against Fulham.

The Senegalese striker scored deep into added time to lift the Magpies five points clear of the Premier League relegation zone with six games left to play this season.

"It's good for the team and it's good for him to score," Gutierrez told the club's official website.

"We don't want to depend on one player but Papiss is doing very, very well. He works hard and then you can score, but the most important thing is that he's working very hard for the team."

Next up for Newcastle is the second leg of their Europa League quater-final tie with Benfica.
