Late goals hand Brentford draw with Millwall

Brentford score twice in the final five minutes to come from behind for a 2-2 draw with Millwall in the Championship.

Brentford scored twice in the final five minutes to secure a 2-2 draw with Millwall at Griffin Park in the Championship this afternoon.

Martyn Woolford came close to opening the scoring inside the first five minutes when Ed Upson played the ball through to him on the edge of the box, but his strike was punched clear.

Brentford soon started to look the more likely, with Jonathan Douglas, Stuart Dallas and Alex Pritchard all having efforts blocked inside the opening 10 minutes.

Jota came closest to breaking the deadlock for the home side when he rose high to head a cross from Pritchard towards the goal, but David Forde was ready to tip it behind.

Despite Brentford's strong start, it was the Lions who opened the scoring when Upson was on the charge again, this time playing the ball in for Lee Gregory to slot in from close range.

Dallas could have got the hosts back on level terms shortly before the break when he forced a save from Forde before having his shot from the resulting corner blocked.

Brentford were on the attack early in the second half as they pushed for an equaliser, but Andre Gray blasted his finish high, while a Pritchard cross towards Jota was blocked.

Millwall soon started to dominate the possession though as they tried to double their advantage, and they were on target again with just over an hour gone as Woolford pulled the ball back across the face of goal for Aiden O'Brien to head into the bottom corner.

Brentford pushed hard inside the final 10 minutes as they tried to give themselves some late hope, but Jota had two efforts blocked, while another forced a save from Forde at full stretch.

The Bees did manage to cut Millwall's lead in half late on though when Alan Judge was brought down by Woolford in the box, setting up Pritchard to convert from the penalty spot.

Brentford threw everything forward in the final five minutes as they desperately pushed for a late equaliser, but Gray could not get the better of Forde as he attempted to tap in from a Douglas cross.

The scores were level in stoppage time though as Brentford were quickly back on the attack, leaving Moses Odubajo to rifle the ball in from just inside the penalty area, blasting it into the bottom corner.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher could have put Millwall back in front in the final seconds, but he put his finish just wide after Shaun Cummings played it in.

The result leaves Millwall 23rd in the table, while Brentford leave themselves just a point behind fifth-placed Derby.
