Half-Time Report: Lee Tomlin fires Middlesbrough into the lead

Lee Tomlin's strike gives Middlesbrough a 1-0 lead at half time against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Lee Tomlin's goal has given Middlesbrough a 1-0 lead at half time against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

Boro had the lead inside the first 10 minutes and it was Tomlin who got it when he arrived to meet Adam Reach's pass to fire past David Stockdale in the Brighton goal.

The visitors had Ben Gibson to thank for keeping them in the lead when the defender made takled to deny Inigo Calderon moments after Danny Holla had fired over the bar.

On-loan Liverpool youngster Joao Teixeira had a good opportunity for the home side on 25 minutes, but the Portuguese playmaker fired wide when well positioned inside the box.

Teixeira's afternoon was ended shortly after when he was replaced by Paddy McCourt after pulling up with an injury.
