Danny Welbeck given permission to leave Manchester United?

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck is reportedly told that he can leave Old Trafford this month, but not for a top-six club.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has reportedly told Danny Welbeck that he is free to leave the club before the end of the summer transfer window.

Van Gaal, who witnessed his new side lose 2-1 to Swansea City last weekend, is keen to make alterations to his first-team squad, and that could see Welbeck depart Old Trafford in the next 10 days.

According to The Mirror, Welbeck has been told that he can find a new team, but he won't be allowed to join a club who are expected to challenge for a top-six place in the Premier League table.

Hull City and Sunderland have recently been linked with a move for the England international, who has scored 29 goals in 139 appearances for United.
