Report: Manchester United up Nathaniel Clyne bid

A report claims that Manchester United are hoping to sign Southampton full-back Nathaniel Clyne for £18m.

Manchester United have reportedly lodged an improved offer with Southampton for their right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

The England international, who has just 12 months left to run on his contract at St Mary's Stadium, has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks.

It has previously been suggested that the Saints rebuffed an initial approach for the 24-year-old, but United have now returned with a bid of £18m, according to the Sunday Times.

Talks are now said to be ongoing between the two clubs, with United believed to be hopeful that an agreement will be reached.

The Red Devils have already secured the services of PSV Eindhoven winger Memphis Depay for next season.
