Manchester United could sign a new central midfielder before this summer's transfer window closes, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly keen to bring a new central midfielder to the club before this summer's transfer window closes for business.

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted earlier this week that his club were unlikely to make another signing over the next few days, having already brought Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane to Old Trafford.

However, according to The Independent, Solskjaer still wants to sign a new midfielder, with the Norwegian still viewing that area of the field as a weak point.

The report claims that West Ham United's Declan Rice is Man United's leading target, but the 20-time English champions might have to wait a year to sign the England international.

The Red Devils are also said to be considering a move for Brighton & Hove Albion's Yves Bissouma, who has been strongly linked with a move away from the Amex this summer.

Scott McTominay is set for an extended period on the sidelines, having undergone a groin operation, which will seemingly strengthen Solskjaer's desire to bring a new midfielder to the club.
