Michael Owen pleased with reception from Stoke City, Manchester United fans

Michael Owen thanks both sets of Stoke City and Manchester United fans for receiving a warm reception at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday.

Michael Owen has expressed his gratitude towards both Stoke City and Manchester United fans for their warm reception over the weekend.

The 33-year-old, who spent three years at Old Trafford before signing for Stoke on a free transfer, made a cameo appearance in yesterday's 2-0 win for United.

Owen wrote on Twitter: "It was great to get the reception I did off both sets of fans yesterday at The Britannia. It meant a lot."

Owen will retire from professional football at the end of the season.
